Trailrunners gun dog training takes all breeds of dogs that have a strong desire to retrieve. The dogs must be 6 months to 3 years of age.
They come for a total of three months. The first month lays a foundation of basic obedience. The second month teaches them “fetch on command” where they learn to retrieve their birds and deliver them to hand. The third month focuses on retrieving real birds from land and water, getting them ready to hunt for the season.
You will learn about healthy nutrition for your dog. You will watch your dog show you what they have learned - treadmill training, quading, biking, as well as finding the birds that are shot and bringing them back to you.
When your dog's training is complete, we have a "Just Me and My Dog" weekend. This is 3 packed days focusing on teaching you and your hunting partner, how to bird hunt with your dog. You will learn about healthy nutrition for your dog, then your dog will show you what they have learned - treadmill training, quading, biking, as well as finding the birds that are shot and bringing them back to you. You will have lots of practice until you feel successful and are ready to take your respectful dog home as well as go out hunting.
You will stay onsite in a cozy stone farm house, have all your meals provided for, as well as have lots of practice working with your dog. You will learn how to communicate clearly to your dog so your dog will respect you as their pack leader. You will be shown how respectful your dog is, and will learn how you can have off leash respect with your dog in any and every situation that you encounter. You will be proud to take your dog everywhere - especially bird hunting.
